Aligners
Aligners are thin, clear, plastic trays that are comfortable to wear and easy to remove.
Aligners are digitally and individually manufactured to fit your teeth, based on a digital 3D scan of your teeth and bite. They are worn for one week before moving on to the next. As you replace each aligner, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week - until they have straightened into the final position prescribed by your specialist orthodontist.
Aligners are removable, which means you can eat, drink brush and floss with ease without wires or brackets interfering.
At Northern Beaches Orthodontics, we are proud to offer our patients Spark Aligners.

Aligners FAQs
-
Some orthodontic problems can be equally corrected by both braces and aligners (e.g. Invisalign). Other problems may not be completely correctable with aligners. An assessment and discussion with the orthodontist can help answer this question. The answer will depend on what level of results will be acceptable to you.

These are different brand names for the same method of moving teeth. They both involve clear plastic aligners worn in sequence, where the orthodontist has specifically designed the aligners and programmed predictable tooth movements into them. These are the two most commonly used systems of aligners by specialist orthodontists.

Unfortunately, no orthodontic treatment is painless. The discomfort lasts for about 2 days to a week before disappearing and will depend on your general pain threshold. However, tooth movement in aligners is generally programmed to happen slowly so the discomfort level remains at an acceptable level.
